Our Story
Sometime in July 2022 we thought: why not add a vibrant cocktail bar, restaurant and music venue to the Diani Beach scene?
From the team behind The Salty Squid Beach Bar & Restaurant — the beachfront favourite known for its views, food and service — Funky Monkey was born.
Breakfast with the kids, long lazy lunches, dinner with mates or cocktails with the crew — we’re your ticket to Cape Town, Ibiza, Miami and beyond. In a glass, of course.
Awards & recognition
We were the first bar on Kenya’s coast to be featured on the 50 Best Discovery list — the global guide from the team behind The World’s 50 Best Bars.
Then Tales of the Cocktail Foundation came calling. At the Spirited Awards, we’ve been named a Top 10 Honoree for Middle East & Africa in both Best International Bar Team and Best International Restaurant Bar, three years running — 2024, 2025 and 2026.
